Event Recording: Ways to Put Faith in Action in Your Workplace
“How you treat everybody in your workplace and your community…tells them what kind of person you are.” At our recent God As CEO event, Steve M. Scheel shared the power of actions when bringing faith to the workplace. He reminded us that when you treat people according to biblical principles, you open doors for deeper conversations about faith.
Here are some reminders from Steve:
Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Your team members notice how you treat them. When you’re caring according to biblical principles, your faith shines through.
You Can’t Please Everyone
Focus on who your work is for and don’t try to make everyone happy. By centering your audience, you’re able to make decisions that respect them.
For SCHEELS, the focus is on making it the best in the USA for its customers and associates. Everyone outside of that focus may not align with the SCHEELS message, and that’s okay.
Set the Right Agenda
If your company’s main goal can be measured numerically, check yourself. Profit isn’t a bad word, but when you’re striving to be Christlike, your business can’t just pursue profit for profit’s sake. You must put people first, and things like team satisfaction are more holistic than numbers-driven. When you treat people as you want to be treated, you’re building a solid foundation for your life’s work.
Be the Example of Culture and Leadership
Work to develop a quality team culture, and then prioritize its maintenance. Continue to invest in employee growth and leadership skills. As you work on these things internally, they’ll become evident to other businesses wishing to emulate your success. Don’t shy away from sharing your process and priorities.
Use Your Workplace to Make a Difference
Investment is a huge part of SCHEELS culture, from community giving programs to extensive team training. SCHEELS doesn’t just show up in a city, they use their resources to strengthen each community where they have a presence.
Pay attention to where you are, and direct time and resources to making meaningful changes in your own community.
